WELCOME TO ÌGBÌMO OMO YORÙBA (YORUBA DESCENDANTS COUNCIL)
ÌGBÌMO OMO YORÙBA (IOY) began as an idea of a forum to bring like-minded Yoruba sons and daughters together, to constantly interact and rub minds on ways and means of encouraging socio-cultural and economic development amongst the Yoruba people all over the world.
It started on 7th May 2023 with a few persons on a WhatsApp group where we held discussions on contemporary issues as it affects our desires for socio-cultural and economic development of Yoruba land.
The group has now grown tremendously both online and offline with reasonable presence on social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. Right from conception of the idea and since the inception of the WhatsApp Group, we articulated amongst ourselves our Vision and Mission Statement.
Our Vision Statement:
To renew and recreate our socio-cultural values that preserves our heritage, health, and wellbeing all over the world, now and for future generations. To project and preserve our OMOLUABI ethos and core values of diligence, hardwork, and excellence to further our progress within the federation of Nigeria.
Our Mission Statement:
To inspire Omo Kuotu Òjííre to be industrious, prosperous, self-aware, and preserve our heritage. To revive our Omolúàbí customs of respect and put preeminence on Yoruba language and uphold the sanctity of our history and our rich cultural heritage. To foster social cohesion, inclusion and to further cultural solidarity with one another wherever we find ourselves on the globe.
REBRANDING IS A NECESSITY!
Rebuilding our leadership, social and political system in order to bring back prosperity to our people.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
To promote Yoruba cultural practices and customs and launch attitudinal change campaign against negative stereotypes and disinformation about our culture. This will encourage a re-establishment of faith with our ancestors, culture, traditions, values, and everything of our Omolúàbí which once stood us out as a race apart in black Africa and indeed the world.
To preserve and promote Yoruba identity all over the world through our Language, in its various dialects, Traditions, Culture, and History.
To renew pride in all Yoruba sons and daughters and promote a mindset and experience of the spirits and letters of the Yoruba National Anthem.
To champion Yoruba cultural advocacy for reorientation of our people towards improving upon the quality of life of every Yoruba person wherever they may be.
To inspire and spread our cultural heritage, unity, and love to the world with positive impact in communities where we live, work, and socialize.
To utilize the resourcefulness of Yoruba people and friends within and outside authorities to further the course of our people.
To awake the consciousness of all Yoruba people home and abroad to further our unity and progress.
To engender a revival of our lost passion, love and loyalty for ourselves and motherland by promoting education and our values through enlightenment by way of rigorous intellectual campaign via written, audio, and visual efforts.
To work assiduously in bridging the gap of knowledge transfer between our departing Elders of the old generation and the upcoming youths of the new generation.
To promote indigenous Yoruba Festival, Ancient sites, customs, and traditions through regular updates especially by encouraging massive investments in tourism.
To interface with agencies and organizations in public and private sectors to device all available options to revive our rural communities, discourage rural-urban migration and promote massive interest in communal agriculture on a mechanized scale and with emphasis on farm settlements style.
To continuously engage and collaborate with authorities on matters that may further the progress of Yoruba people home and abroad.
